So far, no Chinese movies are capable to topple over 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY ever since the erotic blockbuster opened back in mid-April 2011. For two-and-a-half-months since its theatrical release right until 30 June 2011, 3D SEX AND ZEN: EXTREME ECSTASY became the highest-grossing Chinese movie of the year in Hong Kong box-office with an astounding HK$40.6 million.
But not anymore. Out of nowhere, Taiwan's youth drama blockbuster YOU ARE THE APPLE OF MY EYE has unexpectedly snatched the top spot and quickly emerged as the new highest-grossing Chinese movie of the year with HK$42.2 million after just 18 days of release!
Wow, talk about a little movie that can do wonders at the box-office record.
