The Scottish singer and songwriter Emeli Sande knew she could pursue a music career after collaborating with Chipmunk. After Emeli Sande and Chipmunk’s collaboration ‘Diamond Rings’ reached the top 10 in the UK Charts in 2009 was confident of being a success in the music industry. And she writing the hook and singing the chorus, and its success gave her the confidence to believe in her abilities.
She further admitted that when ‘Heaven’ went to number two in the summer, it was my first debut single and it had done so well in the charts. She thought that this is it. She has done it. Emeli’s success looks set to continue into next year after was named winner of the prestigious BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice Award 2012 last week.
And she said that, to win a BRIT Award so early in her career is beyond a dream come true. Sande, who decided to drop her first name Adele and use to her middle name instead after Adele’s rise to fame. She was overwhelmed to be the recipient of such a prestigious award. The other two shortlisted artists for the prize, which has helped young artists gain wider media attention, were runner-up Maverick Sabre and third-placed Michael Kiwanuka.
She admitted that it was a massive crossroads. It was the first massive risk she took. On the medical school course she had seen people who’d dreamed of being doctors since they were four as she had dreamt of doing music since that age - that was her inspiration.
