In this sequel, young Sean Anderson has grown up quite a bit since the conclusion of "Center of the Earth." He recruits his mother's husband Hank Parsons (Johnson) on a quest to find his grandfather Alexander (Michael Caine), an explorer who's gone missing during his search for the fabled Mysterious Island, a place that may or may not be linked to the lost island of Atlantis. They enlist local tour guides played by Luis Guzman and Vanessa Hudgens to aid them on their expedition, though both Kailini (Hudgens) and her father are more than a touch skeptical of Sean's plans.
