Both fitness junkies, actors work out together for a month while shooting for Karan Johar's Agneepath in Diu
Both Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt are fitness junkies, and anjay admits being cast together in Karan Johar's upcoming Agneepath was a "delight". While he had to bulk up to three times his normal size to better Danny Denzongpa's brute force in the 1990 original, Hrithik's character, Vijay, had to look "beefed up" as well.
Sanjay, known for his enthusiasm for bodybuilding, took the latter under his wing. "Hrithik already had a dream body, but he needed to bulk up. That was not possible with his regular exercise pattern. Using variations, he was able to build a more welldefined body," he says, adding, "He is like a younger brother to me, so I took him under my wing. While exercising, he would say `Bas, ho gaya...' and I'd motivate him to do one more set."
Admitting to keeping track of fitness trends, Sanjay says, "My friends in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the world are into bodybuilding. When Hrithik and I started working out, we concentrated on power and strength training."
The actor breaks down their fitness plan, saying, "We did 50 sets in 45 minutes. Each exercise was done in a set of three, with a repetition of 20-15-10. That level of intensity shocks the body and helps you get that ripped look we were aiming for."
To his credit, Hrithik didn't shy away from taking tips from his co-star. "After training with Sanjay for over a month, my body changed completely. I am so happy to have worked out with him and experience that level of intensity," he says.
His trainer, Satyajit Chaurasia, says, "Hrithik's muscles responded well to the variations Sanjay gave us. We worked on increasing body parts in size and sharpness. So from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to Agneepath, Hrithik's chest size went from 40 to 45 inches, and the circumference of his biceps grew from 16 to 18 inches."
