If you look at Ben Affleck's directing filmography, you will realize he's more keen on helming crime genre. Case in point: 2007's GONE BABY GONE and 2010's THE TOWN. But now Warner Bros. has apparently chosen Ben Affleck to direct a big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's highly-popular novel THE STAND. Oh, wait, Ben Affleck directs a horror movie? As odd as it sounds, but you can't deny it's kind of fascinating to see how versatile Affleck can prove himself helming such genre for the first time.
By the way, THE STAND had previously being adapted as a TV mini-series back in 1994. The mini-series, which stars Gary Sinise and Molly Ringwald, has won 2 Primetime Emmy awards for Makeup and Sound Mixing category.
